This review will be regarding the Summerlicious 2019 menu at Lisbon by Night.
I wanted to try something different for Summerlicious and the Portuguese food menu at Lisbon By Night caught my eye. After reading mixed reviews about this place, I wasn't sure what I should be expect. However, by the end of my night, both my boyfriend and I were happily fed and will come back to try their normal menus!
We started with the Caçarola de Camarão (sautéed shrimp) and Chouriço na Canoa (flaming Portuguese sausage). The shrimp was super delicious and the sauce was very good. The Portuguese sausage was served in a very interesting way. The waiter actually lit the bottom of the pot on fire. The sausage itself wasn't super amazing but all the brownie points for presentation!
For the mains, I chose the Bife à Portuguesa which is pan-seared steak served with a fried runny egg on top. I'm not sure if Portuguese steak was supposed to be served well-done but the waiter didn't ask me for how I liked my steak. However I enjoyed the way it turned out and eating it with a runny egg was different in a good way for me! My boyfriend's seafood rice Arroz de Marisco was delicious as well but both of us agreed that we liked the flavour of the steak more.
I've had Portuguese tarts (pastel de nata) many times before so I opted for the cheesecake while my boyfriend tried the tart. I liked how the crumbs and the sauce had a burnt bitter taste to it and it created a nice balance with the cheesecake itself. The only thing is that the cheesecake can feel a bit heavy because of how big the portion is. Both desserts were really good regardless.
Overall I really enjoyed the Summerlicious menu! If you are still contemplating which restaurant to try for summerlicious, definitely give Lisbon by Night a go! -

My boyfriend and I went for the Fish Rodizio, which is basically 8 different kinds of seafood (mostly fish) served at the table, and if you wanted any more of it, you could ask for it. Here's what we were served:
Soup - good broth with seafood taste
1. Sea bream - grilled with good flavour but a bit bony
2. Salmon, king fish, swordfish. Salmon is the best, very juicy and flavorful
3. Breaded sole and fried sardines. - sole is very buttery, sardines just okay and very bony
4. Shrimp - This was the best, well seasoned and flavourful
5. Calamari - tough and flavourless
Rice and sides are good
The problem was, with everything they only seasoned with salt and pepper, so things were tasting bland. The only exceptions were the shrimp and the salmon. While it was okay, I don't think we will be back. Also, the grilled pineapple at the end was terrible. Burned, hard(uncored) and barely sweet. -

Amazing restaurant, very good service. This was a gem underrated on the ratings! Went for Summerlicious lunch on a Sunday at 12 pm and ordered grilled sardines, grilled calamari and a dessert called Natas do Céu which was whipped cream on a crumbled cookie with a lovely yellow custard on top. My boyfriend ordered shrimp, a dish which was like a shredded potato and cod quiche, and the grilled pineapple for dessert. Was very full in the end. Servers are very friendly, and even though some photos look like the place is a very formal restaurant, instead it has a relaxed atmosphere. No formal dress code, if you're wondering.
Ordered a selection on the drink menu which had 3 one ounce glasses of port wine with various ages for only $9. Was great to try how each one differed. My favourite was the middle aged one which was 10 year old port.
The grilled sardines were much larger than I thought - they were at least 4 times larger than the ones that you get in cans. They had a lot of bones, but they are edible (if you chew with the fish meat. That said, very fresh, even though they are imported. My boyfriend from Mauritius said it tasted just like the ones back home.
I tried his shrimp which was very juicy and excellent.
The calamari was a bit tough to eat but was very filling and quite tasty. They give you a large portion as well with two large partially sliced squid.
The potato/code quiche was a surprisingly delicious treat. Called Bacalhau à Braz, it tasted like comfort food and was nicely presented in a stacked cylinder.
While the presentation of the dessert Natas do Céu was also a surprise as whipped cream mainly in a glass, it was quite delicious, especially with the home made custard sauce.
The grilled pineapple was good, though took some time to arrive and did not seem particularly special. I would probably try one of the other desserts though. -

One dish: Please try their grilled calamari in secret seafood sauce - it's a secret cause it's that amazing, and there was no shame using free bread to dip in that sauce. Absolutely worth it in value, large portions for summerlicious, and the vibe was lively and fun.
